XBiz Awards takes a unique approach to recognizing and awarding companies. The five stages of the process are:

Selection of Judges
XBiz invites judges, from seasoned representatives of major adult industry companies to individual webmasters, who have demonstrated exceptional talent in their field. Judges are grouped (maximum of 7 judges per group) and assigned to an award category not matching their primary business field.
Nomination Submissions
The XBiz Awards accepts nomination submissions from the adult industry community.
Company professionals and webmasters may submit companies that offer business products and services of excellence.
Nominee Announcements
Once the nomination submission period closes, final nominees are announced.
Judging Process
Judges rate each of the assigned final nominees based on a number of different qualities/criteria.

| Web Content Provider | Content Quality, Niche Variety and Overall Rating |
| Alternative Billing Company | Features/Options, Stats/Report Quality and Overall Rating |
| Web Host | Hosting Options, Admin Tools and Overall Rating |
| Mobile Solution | Ease of Integration and Overall Rating |
| Design Company | Portfolio, Variety of Design Services, Range of Style and Attention To Detail |
| GLBT | In this category votes are based upon each Judge's personal preference. Judges are given a chance to explain the reasons for making their choice as part of the voting process. |
